Sunshine for Webex

Sunshine helps you to steer online meetings towards greater success. It detects interaction patterns relevant to group intelligence and provides you with recommendations how to make most of your team here and now. It does not monitor the content and is fully language independent.

Sunshine for Webex consists of two parts:

  • The embedded app — the dashboard you and your participants open inside a Webex meeting.
  • The service app — a machine account a Webex organization admin authorizes once, so the Sunshine bot can join your organization's meetings.

Getting Started

  1. Ask a Webex organization admin to authorize the Sunshine service app for your organization — this is a one-time step.
  2. In any Webex meeting, open Sunshine from the Apps panel and let the host start the analysis — see Embedded App.

Embedded App

The embedded app is what everyone in the meeting sees: real-time, weather-style dashboards with live recommendations.

Open Sunshine in a meeting

  1. During a Webex meeting, click Apps in the meeting toolbar and select Sunshine.
  2. Sunshine signs you in automatically with your Webex identity. If your Webex admin has disabled private data access for embedded apps, click Sign in with Webex instead and approve the request — Sunshine only asks to read your basic profile.
  3. As the meeting host, select your organization and start the Sunshine bot. The bot joins the meeting as a visible participant and analyzes the flow of the conversation in real time. Participants who are not the host see a waiting screen until the host has started the bot.
  4. Once the bot has joined, the live dashboards appear:
    • Productivity — is the meeting moving forward, or stuck?
    • Creativity — is the rhythm of the exchange one that supports fresh thinking?
    • Group Dynamics — who's driving the conversation, and how are people connecting?

Good to know

  • Sunshine analyzes who speaks when — turn-taking patterns, not words. Meeting content is never monitored or recorded, and the analysis works in any language.
  • Meetings running in Webex privacy mode are not supported.
  • Only the meeting host can start the Sunshine bot.

Service App

The service app is Sunshine's machine account in your Webex organization. Authorizing it allows the Sunshine bot to join meetings on request — without it, the bot cannot enter your organization's meetings. Authorization is done once by a Webex organization admin.

Authorize Sunshine for your organization

  1. Sign in to Webex Control Hub as an organization admin.
  2. Go to Apps and open the Service Apps tab.
  3. Find the Sunshine authorization request and review the requested scopes.
  4. Click Authorize.

That's it — Sunshine is notified automatically once the authorization is granted, and hosts in your organization can start the bot from the embedded app right away.

What the service app can and cannot do

  • It joins meetings only when a meeting host requests it, and always as a visible participant — never silently.
  • It analyzes interaction patterns (who speaks when) in real time.
  • It does not record meetings, store audio, or monitor what is being said.

An organization admin can revoke the authorization at any time in Control Hub under Apps → Service Apps.
